Prison Wives: The Forgotten Women In Our society

Having a husband in prison is a stigma in our society. any way it is inherent to cope and get through this difficult time in your life. Let me help you along the way and give you a few tips.

I myself am a "Prison Wife." My husband has been in the prison ideas for the past 22 months. He was first in a minimum protection unit, a place called "The Farm, " with open doors, and no barbed wire. Now, he is in a half-way house, hoping to come back home the summer of 2005.

Four Door Refrigerator

The "Prison Wife" is the forgotten one, as she waits at home for her husband. Our community takes care of the sick, the dyimg, the homeless, but the prisoner's wife is alone and forgotten.

She is faced with insurmountable problems....financial,emotional, psychological, social, stigmatization, condition problems to face alone, children to take care of. She keeps the household "together," until her husband comes home. She works, pays the bills, pays the mortgage or rent, the car payments, insurances. She takes care of the children, repairs for the house, and just about all things else under the sun. Holidays and birthdays come and go. She is alone and lonely, most often faced with depression.
Most find it difficult to even face an additional one day. She lives in hiding because she is afraid the neighbors may find out. So she lies and says he is on a "business" trip, to protect herself...after all, the neighbors would be shocked to know a criminal's wife lives next door to them. And, what does she tell the children? No one wants to let their child play with a criminal's child.

When her husband leaves for prison, the wife goes through a duration of "grieving." She goes through the same "grieving process" that a widow goes through. The only contrast is that the widow can ultimately move on, while the prison wife cannot. The Prison Wife is a "wife," without a husband. She cannot go out and socialize, and it is difficult to make new friends, as she feels she is being "unfaithful" to her husband.

After a clear estimate of time (months or even years), it is appropriate in our socity for the widow to step out, and start dating and even re-marry. The Prison Wife who is faithful and dedicated to her husband does not have this option....some women wait years for their man to return...10 , even 20 or more years.

There are close to 2 million prisoners in our country....that makes me wonder just how many wives and loved ones are left behind and forgotten. We think about the prisoner, but never, ever, think about those left behind.....the wives, the children, the mothers, the girlfriends, to name a few. Those loved ones, who did not commit a crime, except the crime of "loving a criminal." They did not commit a crime, and yet they are punished.

When their husband goes to prison, they are not notified by the prison ideas where their husbamnd is. I believe there should be some announcement ideas in this country. The wife must sit and wait, until her husband is able to place a acquire call to her.

There should be maintain systems in this country for prison wives. There should be follow-up programs for families of the incarcerated, to see how they are coping.

I will now give you some tips on how to get through this duration of your life. It is from my own personal experience, and I hope it can help you...........after all, just remember, you are not alone..........there are so many of us out there experiencing the same feelings and emotions...the same problems.

"Ways To Cope"

1. Take one day at a time........Do not think too far in advance. Try to get "through one more day."

2. Plan small projects for each day, and try to reach a goal. For instance, I put all our photos in photo albums, while the first few weeks of my husband's incarceration. When that scheme was complete, I started cleaning out drawers and closets.

3. organize tour life............I re-organized bills and mail, using folders and envelopes, and I kept logs, writing all things down.

4. Keep pictures of your husband colse to the house....I had pictures in every room. I even had one posted on the refrigerator door.

5. Join a church group. I started baking cakes for the monthly cake sale. I enjoyed doing it, and felt I was contributing something to society.

6. Get involved...acquire hobbies. Knitting, needle-point, gardening, writing, holding a diary....anything. Just do something, even if you force yourself to do it. As time goes on, it will get easier, and you will begin to enjoy it. I planted an "Angel Garden," outside in the yard, with angel statues, and flowers. I also began writing poetry, stories and letters to the editor. I also began writing a journal, which became a very foremost part of my life.

7. Keep in close touch with your husband....Accept phone calls (if you can afford it, as prison phone calls are very expensive), send your husband letters, cards, magazine and newspaper clippings, and computer print-outs of thingd that interest him. Send him pictures (old and new)...Men in prison love to look at pictures from home. It helps them from becoming homesick. My husband has approximately 100 pictures that he keeps in photo albums, and loves to share with the inmates, and show them our family and home. If I convert something colse to in the household,or buy anything new, iI take a photograph and send it to him, so he always feels associated to our home. I also tkae pictures of the pets, the garden, and the cars.

8. Keep a notebook near the phone at all times. Jot down things you want to discuss with your husband when he calls. Remember, those are 15 tiny calls, and there is a lot to say in a short duration of time, so get organized beforehand.

9. Cry when you have to, but also try to stay focused. Do not be torn apart by the prison system. You are still a person, and a wife...and you need to be supportive to your husband.

10. Try to stay healthy. Eat right, avoid junk food and alcohol. Exercise. Try walking. After all, you want to be physically fit when your husband comes home!

I hope this article will be of some help to the wives and loved ones of prisoners, as they await their loved one while he is in prison.

Does The Magnetic medicine for Scale and Hardness in Water de facto Work?

Magnets are used for many things. One of those uses is for getting rid of scale deposits and hard water. That is right. Magnets have uses for treating water. The question is that it is still up in the air about how sufficient these magnetic treatments in fact are.

The use of magnets for treating scale deposits and hard water is relatively new to the technology of water medicine especially when it is compared to the chemicals used for the medicine of water. Two main disagreements exist when you are talking about the magnetic medicine of scale deposits and hard water. There are two distinct views on the water medicine formula and are permanently going back and forth with claims about hoe this water medicine technology in fact does.

Four Door Refrigerator

How does the magnetic water medicine system in fact work? Why is it so necessary? Two questions that need to be answered and have given worry to the correctness of this water medicine technology. The magnetic water medicine system that is used for scale deposits and hard water is opinion to be the very thing that will take off those scale minerals from the water and thus stop the water from being hard.

The magnetic medicine system is completed by adding magnets to the openings or close to the openings of the pipes that run the water to the home or market structure. The magnets are then opinion to generate a very strong magnetic field inside the pipes. The magnetic field will need to be strong enough to acquire the molecules that are colse to the calcium, silica, and magnesium. When the magnets work with the elements in the water, they are not able to acquire in the pipes anymore. The scale deposits that are created before the magnets were installed can not stay together and are removed.

The magnetic treatments for hard water and scale deposits was first opinion to be a major item in getting rid of the iron in the water that makes the water hard and the scales to form. The idea of it is that the technology that is behind the magnetic treatments is a great way to soften the water than the chemical treatments are.

There are those that believe that the claims of those that believe in the magnetic water medicine technology are just not supported by anyone other than results that were obtained from sure situations. Those that do not believe are pushing the fact that no real laboratory investigate has been done to prove that this medicine formula in fact works.

The big fight will be over the magnetic medicine systems and the doubts that are raised by those that do not believe in the technology. Both of those that believe and do not believe have valid reasons for disagreeing with each other. It does not matter why the arguments exist, or if they are only in the interest of those arguing, the write back has yet to be found for magnetic water medicine systems as to either it is good or bad.

How Often Should You change Your Air Conditioner Filter

There are some very foremost things that you should do to extend the life of your air conditioner and keep it working at peak efficiency at all times. One of the most foremost things that you can do is turn your air conditioner or furnace filter every three to six months.

Every home is different and there are many factors that corollary how long you should wait between filter changes. Wait too long and the efficiency of the equipment will deteriorate and operating costs go up. turn your filter too often and it's like throwing money away. inspecting the cost of some filters that could add up to a lot of money over time.

Four Door Refrigerator

It is foremost to keep in mind that the more productive your air conditioner filter is the more often it will have to be cleaned or replaced. For most citizen pleated filters will do an enough job. These filters are ten to sixty percent productive and some manufacturers claim even higher efficiencies.

Pleated filters should be changed every three to six months. If you live in an area with lots of dust then you should probably turn your filter about every three months.

If you need more productive air filtration you may want an electrostatic, electronic or even a Hepa filter. The more productive the filter is the more often it will have to be cleaned or replaced.

Electrostatic filters probably offer the best composition of value and efficiency. You will pay between two to six times what a good potential disposable filter would cost but you just wash them with water when they become dirty and reuse them.

Electronic filters will never become dirty enough to corollary airflow. They just become inefficient and there potential to take off dust from the air deteriorates as they become dirty. To clean these filters you have to take off the electronic cells and soak them in some like Hvac cleaner and then rinse them and let them dry.

Hepa filters are the most productive filters ready and become plugged very quickly. They need to be checked monthly and often cause too much restriction to airflow to be used at all. An air conditioner contractor will be able to tell you if it is worth trying one of these in your system.

If you are using cheaper panel filters from your local hardware store and getting a pack of four for five or ten dollars, you are not doing yourself, your family or your air conditioning equipment any favours. When it comes to rating filters, these are at the lowest of the list.

These filters do such a poor job you could leave one in your air conditioner for a year and it would not procure enough dust to need changing. The unfortunate thing is the evaporator coil of your air conditioner would need to be cleaned every year to take off the dirt that should have been stopped by the filter.

How to Make Jerky - Step-by-Step Instructions

Before the invention of refrigeration and preservatives, the only way to withhold meat for long periods of time was to dry it into jerky. Drying meat into jerky is possibly the oldest way of preserving meat and jerky dates back to the earliest civilizations.

Traditionally, jerky was made from long, thin strips of meat that was salted and dried in the sun or over a small smokey fire. Although jerky can still be made in this way, techniques have come to be more sophisticated in our day. Jerky is still an extremely popular food and millions of habitancy still enjoy jerky as a delicious, convenient, and wholesome source of protein. Jerky is perfect for hikers, campers, or just an easy, non-messy snack.

Four Door Refrigerator

Today, jerky is most ordinarily made from beef, but jerky can also be made from poultry, fish, and wild game such as deer (venison), elk, buffalo, bison, moose, caribou, antelope, and other game. Many varieties of seasonings can be used to make dissimilar flavors of jerky. Salt is traditionally used as the main preservative for jerky, but acids such as vinegar and citrus juice in marinades can also help to kill bacteria. Jerky can be made without salt, but its shelf life will be drastically reduced.

Store-bought jerky comes in many flavors with any whole of chemicals, additives, and preservatives and can be surprisingly expensive. However, you can make your own jerky at home very easily. Most habitancy are surprised at just how easy it is to make yummy jerky that is much cheaper and healthier than mass-produced jerky ready in stores. So by production your own jerky, you not only operate the ingredients, you also save money.

Jerky Making: Step-by-Step Instructions
Select a cut of meat. Selecting a lean cut will save time later. For beef jerky, cuts like like sirloin, top round, eye of round, etc. Are good choices. You can also use venison or virtually any other type of meat to make jerky. Trim all of the noticeable fat from your cut of meat because any fat will cause the jerky to spoil much faster. Slice your meat into very thin strips from 1/8" to 1/4" thick. Cutting the meat into thin slices dramatically shortens drying time. You can cut jerky with just a knife and cutting board, but there are some suitable tools you can use for slicing meat, such as a Jerky Slicing Tray, a Hand-Crank by hand Jerky Slicer, or an galvanic meat slicer. Tip: Slicing meat is easier if you freeze the meat for about 30 to 60 minutes before slicing. You can cut with or against the grain, but some find that strips cut against the grain are easier to chew. Marinate the meat in a marinade or clarification of your choice. You can consequent a method to make your own marinade or purchase any whole of ready-made marinades. Marinating is optional because the further moisture can make dehydration take longer, and the resulting jerky might be stickier. Soaking in soy sauce or teriyaki sauce is a favorite. Place in the refrigerator for 4 - 24 hours to allow the meat digest the flavor. Season the meat with the dry seasonings of your choice. You can consequent a jerky method or pick from a wide collection of ready dry jerky seasoning mixes. A mixture of salt, pepper, oregano, marjoram, basil and thyme is tasty. You will find that many seasonings work well and it is a personal preference. I personally enjoy jerky with a lot of pepper. You will need to experiment to find your favorites. Just sprinkle and rub the dry seasonings onto both sides of the sliced meat. Dehydrate the meat. Meat is dehydrated by applying heat and continuous air flow. The operate of both the climatic characteristic and the airflow is very important. If the humidity is too high and the climatic characteristic is too low, the jerky will dry too gradually and it could spoil. If the climatic characteristic is too high, the jerky will cook too fast, condense on the covering but still be too moist on the inside, and once again, it could spoil. There are two common methods for drying jerky; in a conventional oven or in a food dehydrator. Whichever method you use, be sure to leave adequate room between pieces to allow air to flow nearby the meat. Avoid letting the meat touch if possible. Making Jerky in a conventional Oven Preheat your oven to 140 degrees. Remember you are not cooking the meat; you are plainly removing the moisture. Spray all the racks you will use with a non stick cooking spray. Without this non-stick spray, you will be left with jerky that cannot be removed from the racks and that will essentially be inedible. Spread the meat evenly on wire racks in the oven. You can also use metal racks other than the oven racks with a drip pan underneath to make cleanup much faster. Leave the oven door open slightly to permit moisture to escape. Since temperatures, humidity levels, and slice thickness will vary, there can be no set time for the process to complete. Ordinarily jerky takes from 6 to 12 hours. Check the consistency of the jerky Ordinarily after 6 hours until it meets your satisfaction. You might have to cut into the jerky to ensure that it is not raw inside. You want the jerky to be a deep brown or burgundy color and still be flexible. As jerky cools, it will get more stiff and brittle so you don't want to over dry. Making Jerky in a Food Dehydrator Food Dehydrators are perfect for production jerky. Dehydrators are uncostly to buy and are safer and cheaper to use than the kitchen oven. Additionally dehydrators make less of a mess and are easier to clean up. Spray the dehydrator trays with a non-stick cooking spray before placing on the strips of meat. This keeps the meat from sticking and helps in the clean up of the trays. Season the jerky strips just as above and drain them well before placing them on the dehydrator trays. A full dehydrator can Ordinarily process a large batch of jerky in 6 to 12 hours. Just like with drying in a conventional oven, temperatures, humidity levels, and slice thickness will vary, so the drying time will vary. You will want to check the jerky Ordinarily after 6 hours to see if its done. You want the jerky to be a deep brown or burgundy color and still be flexible. As jerky cools, it will get more stiff and brittle so you don't want to over dry. The thicker cuts will take more time, so as the thin pieces are done, just take off them. Tip: A rule of thumb is that 4 pounds of raw meat makes about one pound of jerky. Store the concluded jerky in plastic bags and store in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to eat. To be safe, it's best to enjoy the fresh homemade jerky within one week of its preparation. If you make it right, it's delicious!Tip: If you wish to store your jerky for longer, use a vacuum sealer to store the jerky in vacuum bags. Other warehouse methods allow exposure to oxygen and moisture, which encourages the growth of bacteria. In vacuum sealed bags, jerky can be kept for months. Vacuum sealed jerky stored in a freezer can last even longer.
Alternative: Jerky Snack Strips & Sticks
Instead of production jerky from sliced meat, a popular form of jerky is the jerky snack stick or snack strip, which is made from seasoned ground meat formed into strips or round sticks. To make this jerky snack, you first need to purchase extra lean ground meat or grind lean cuts of meat with a meat grinder. The next step is to mix the seasonings into the ground meat by hand or with a meat mixer. The seasoned ground meat can then be extruded into the snack sticks or strips using a Jerky Gun or Jerky Cannon. Finally, these jerky snacks are dehydrated on trays in a conventional oven or food dehydrator as described above.

Who knew it was so easy to make your own jerky? Enjoy!

How to Cook Tri Tip in Your Oven Like an devotee

If you've got any of my other cooking articles here, you know I'm somewhat of a tri tip expert. I love it. Normally, I do mine on the grill, but there are times (especially when I'm busy) where I'll cook it in the oven. And you know what? It still tastes great. Here's how I do it.

First of all, you need to rub / marinade your meat any way you like it. There's no exquisite way. I've done tri tips all kinds of ways-it's the cut of meat I use when I experiment. However, you're going to want some wet works for the cooking. This could be a aggregate of olive oil and other ingredients or your favorite marinade.

Four Door Refrigerator

If your meat is in the refrigerator, take it out for about 5-10 minutes before cooking.

Heat up your oven to about 425 degrees F. Make note that cooking times and temperatures can vary from oven to oven.

Next, place your tri tip on a baking pan fat side down. Drench a exiguous of your favorite wet works over it and slide it in the middle of your oven. Set your timer for about 45 minutes. Your cooking time might be about 1 hour, but from about the 45 exiguous mark, you want to pay real close concentration to the meat.

Here's the key. Every 8-10 minutes, add some more marinade over the top of your tri tip. You may end up doing this 6-7 times depending on final cooking time. Remember to take it out before it's indubitably done, because it will continue to cook for up to 10 minutes afterward. And I like to wrap mine in foil for 5 minutes before cutting it.

Lastly, if your cut of meat has a fair whole of fat on the fat side, start it in the oven with that side up for about 8 minutes and then flip it for the rest of the duration. If you've done all right, your tri tip from your oven will be very tasty.
